The 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army, commonly known as the "Screaming Eagles", is a modular infantry division trained for air assault operations. During World War II, it was renowned for action during the Normandy landings and in the Battle of the Bulge.
Captain Jack Zimmerman was commander of a unit in the division's Fox Company during the Landing operations on D-Day. He also assumed command of a number of soldiers from Easy Company who could not find their commanding officer, and helped the Five in preventing the Nazis' use of a fire elemental against the Allied invasion fleet.[1]
