The stenopelhabilis are a species of abnormal that almost went extinct in the early-21st century due to poaching of its tusks.

History[]

They are vaguely cat-like, with hairless skin and ridged backs. They normally feed on bamboo, but can also develop a fondness for cheeseburgers. The last thing you should feed a steno is Reese's Pieces as their bodies react to the mixture of sugar and peanuts like crack causing them to become violently insane.

Season 2[]

Episode 2x03 - "Eulogy": The last breeding pair of stenopelhabilis were kept in the Tokyo Sanctuary until they were killed during the super abnormal attack by the Cabal. Their corpses were then moved to the Old City Sanctuary in cryogenic stasis. When Kate Freelander opened the cryochamber that the pregnant female steno was being held in in order to steal her tusks, the baby burst from its dead mother's womb, escaping into the room. As a small youngling, it roamed the Sanctuary and fed on everything it found, preferably hamburgers, although they were not considered healthy for it. Eventually, it found its way out of the facility and fled through the streets of Old City.
Stenopelhabilis

An adolescent stenopelhabilis named Ralphie.

Henry Foss and Kate went out to find it and hunted into its nest in the sewers; noticing clothing the belonged to Kate. It was then that they realized the creature had imprinted on Kate (as she was the first being it met in its life), seeing her as its mother. Relieved, they returned it to the Sanctuary, where Kate named it "Ralphie", even though they did not know its gender with certainty.
Episode 2x04 - "Hero": Kate Freelander later tried to use the tusk of a stenopelhabilis to pay off a debt for her brother Tad Freelander.

Season 4[]

Episode 4x04 - "Monsoon": Ralphie was part of a very successful breeding program at the Beijing Sanctuary. In early 2011, one of Ralphie's offspring accidentally got loose in an IKEA warehouse in Old City due to a shipping container mix-up. It roamed the sewers until the Sanctuary team was able to capture the creature with some help from FBI agent Abby Corrigan.
