Syfy, formerly known as the Sci Fi Channel, is an American cable television channel launched on September 24, 1992, that specializes in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and paranormal programming. It is the original broadcaster of the Sanctuary televsion series.

Seeing the success of the original web series, Syfy decided to pick up the series for a more traditional television-based 13-episode season. Thus far four seasons have been filmed.
